How to stay consistent with your Workouts?
It's not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives. It's what we do consistently. - Anthony Robbins
Do you remember the day you decided to have a Greek god physique in the year 2020 when you were singing Happy New year (Little did we knew this year didn’t deserve that.) with an ambitious resolution to transform yourself so that you can woo the girl in next cubicle to you or to make your Netflix and chill more worthy.Do you remember the day you decided to have a Greek god physique in the year 2020 when you were singing Happy New year (Little did we knew this year didn’t deserve that.) with an ambitious resolution to transform yourself so that you can woo the girl in next cubicle to you or to make your Netflix and chill more worthy.
Don’t get embarrassed there is a whole community of people who hit the gym for quite a few days of January. (fortunately this year you can blame the pandemic for being a hurdle between you and your chiseled physique and not your procrastination).
As things are getting back to normal again and it is nothing less than starting a New “Freaking” Year, Many of you will make an enthusiastic start but it’s hard to keep yourself stick to a plan and meet dumbbells on a regular basis than slipping back into your old habits.
Maybe these points can help you in being committed to your resolution and help you transform and if doesn’t then peri-peri fries can be your snacks while binge-watching the next Netflix original.
1. Start slow and increase steadily.
Most of us out of enthusiasm overdo and spoil it for ourselves resulting in ghosting the Gym and ditching our future-fit version. Do not get excited by seeing loads of weights and other people working out rigorously, remember it’s your initial days, not theirs.
Overdoing exercises and weights in your initial days will tend to put pressure on your muscles for which they are not even prepared. Sore muscles and a bad experience will just lower down your spirit.
FYI, Each muscle of your body enjoys foreplay just in different ways.
2. Make a Goal
Not in this list but “Not having a goal” is universally the number 1 reason why people quit going to the gym or to exercise.
Most often people choose to go to the gym without having a clear goal or a Goal which is par their current capacity and when they see no change for few starting days they quit by saying “ I think it's my body type that I don’t lose weight”.
Always keep in mind you are not the “chosen one” for bad fats, rather than making any big goals to make some small goals. It's easy to give up on an impossible goal and the easiest way to not “give up on impossible goal” is not to make one.
For example, I will do 3 sets of an exercise with enough number of reps and increase it to a good point in the next one month will be good goal to set instead of dreaming of having the best biceps in all my cousins in the next one month.
Small and realistic goals will keep you in momentum and soon you will start to see differences that you didn’t even imagine.
3. Find Someone
I know most of you who are reading this are trying hard for this, even me.
But here with “someone” I mean someone who have same fitness goals as you and won’t let you go off the hook so easily.
Psychologically we tend to look for others support more than our own self, I am not making it up Harvard business review said that see here https://hbr.org/2009/06/rethinking-trust
“Scientists now consider the nurturant qualities of life—the parent-child bond, cooperation, and other benign social ties—to be critical attributes that drove brain development…accounting for our success as a species.”
Getting along with someone will push you forward for more reps, for more sets, for getting into the gym daily, and keeping up with your commitment.
If you can’t find a Gym partner tell someone, you have started to work out and this time you won’t show your back.
Believe me, if you will not show your back to continuing, you will get a lot of chances to show the actual one. Also if people know you’re working out then you’ll get asked about your fitness journey so far, so there’s nowhere to hide.
4. Eat Healthy
Whether you are wishing to lose your belly fat or strengthen your muscles everything starts with your intake. Exercising helps you in increasing metabolism but only the right food can help you achieve your fitness goals.
Ask your trainer to check on your goal, body type, and suggest your diet plans accordingly. Don’t believe Whatsapp myths choose a dietary plan or any intake from a credible source only.
5. Do not buy a membership
You can never encourage yourself to take physical pain for the sake of making your money worthy.
I will ask you not to buy High priced membership because if you will quit you will also lose on your money from which you could have ordered chicken wings for celebrating your procrastination.
Though there are some gyms that allow you to take paid demo instead of buying memberships in most cases the cost of these demo sessions is the same as 30% or 40% of your membership charges.
The best option is to use Aurozen App, it allows you to choose between numerous gyms in your city and charges you only for the session you do. Their Pay per session model lets you access the gym at a cost the same as a Plate of steamed momos.
The only key to improve is keeping yourself consistent, the more you will keep yourself in the zone the less you will have to try for keeping yourself in it.
Let me give you a fun fact before ending, Fitness and cricket have one thing in common “Longer you stay greater you score” and it’s not limited to them.
